Insect identification−Taxonomy (Spring 1995)
This was another very challenging class I took during the spring semester of 1995, the same term as the Insecticide Toxicology class mentioned above. In this class, we had to memorize the major insect families and the key characteristics essential for identifying them. There were written exams, but more significantly, there were identification tests. For the identification tests, about 50 specimens (as I recall) were lined up in the classroom, and we had to determine the family each insect belonged to, starting from one end. I suppose being an entomology major meant we needed to be able to identify insects, but it was an incredibly difficult experience for me.

昆虫分類学（Insect Identification－Taxonomy）
上述の殺虫剤薬理学の授業と同じ1995年の春学期に受講してしまった、とても大変だったもう一つの授業でした。この授業は、ひたすら主だった昆虫のファミリー（科）を覚えていき、その昆虫を同定する上で鍵となる、まさにキーとなる特徴を覚えていかなければなりませんでした。ペーパーでの筆記試験もありましたが、何よりも50個くらい（私の記憶では）の標本が教室いっぱいに並べられていて、端からその昆虫のファミリーを答えていくというテストがありました。昆虫学科である以上、昆虫の同定ぐらいできなくては、といったところだったのだろうと思います。しかしそれが私にはとても苦痛でした。
