Writing a proposal (research plan)
I remember spending the first semester writing a research proposal that outlined the purpose of my planned research, the materials and equipment needed for the experiments, the experimental procedures, and the methods for data analysis. This was based on the current progress in the field and the context of my research. During this time, I read papers and books in related fields while receiving valuable advice from my advisor and committee members.

プロポーザル（研究計画書）を書く
同じ分野の研究が、現在どのようなところまで進んでいるのか、自分の研究の位置付けを踏まえたうえで、自分が行いたい研究の目的や、実験に必要な材料や用具、実験の手順、データの分析方法などについて、タイム・ラインとともに、ある程度経過の見通しをつけたプロポーザル（実験計画書）を、最初のセメスターをかけてまとめたのではなかったかと思います。このときに、指導教官や副査になってもらった先生方にいろいろとアドバイスをもらいながら、論文や本を読んで関連する分野の勉強を進めていきました。
