A devastating blow to Colorado potato beetle strains
As I have mentioned many times before, while maintaining Colorado potato beetle strains, I experienced a severe setback that caused significant larval mortality over several months. This mortality occurred during a selection experiment for resistance to the pyrethroid esfenvalerate. As a result, I concluded that the estimated realized heritability was considered to be overestimated—a point I have discussed in both my master’s thesis and a journal paper I submitted.
